Yesterday, Barefoot on the Town visited with the lawyers of the 2012 class of Leadership Arts. For our readers who are unfamiliar with Leadership Arts, it is an eight-month leadership training program put on by Colorado Business Committee for the Arts that prepares participants to serve as board members for arts and cultural organizations. Classes are held once per month at a different cultural facility around town. Yesterday’s class took place at the Art Students League of Denver, a unique teaching facility for both adults and youth. Classes at the League are taught by a talented and diverse group of more than 80 faculty artists, and include everything from beginning drawing to marketing essentials for artists.
The 2012 Leadership Arts class includes four smart and art-friendly attorneys. Dimitri Adloff with Otten Johnson, Greg Tan from Greenberg Traurig, Charles Mitchell with Sander Ingebretsen & Wake, and Holland & Hart’s Ashley Wald. Greg already sits on the Arvada Center’s board, but signed up for Leadership Arts to hone his skills as a board member and learn more about arts-issues affecting the community. Charles is involved with the Denver Film Society. Even more interesting - he spent many years in New York City as a stage actor. Dimitri has his sights set on joining the board of Colorado Lawyers for the Arts. We wish them all luck, and will stay in touch to see where life after Leadership Arts takes them.
